We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it time and time again; workshifting is one of the best ways around to balance your work with your life. It gives you the flexibility to do work on your time, so you can make room for the things in life that matter. But like a lot of things, it isn’t right for — or even feasible for — everyone. Some jobs may not be possible on the go, while some people just may prefer being in an office setting to get things done.

So how do you know if workshifting is your game? Short answer is: it depends. There are a few things you should consider when determining if remote work is right for you. To help out, we’ve put together a short, simple quiz that will help you decide.

Right now it doesn’t look like remote work is the best option for you. There could be some barriers —like your company, your boss or your position — that would make working outside the office a stretch. So unless you change positions (or change some minds), remote work will have to wait.

2 to 4 points
With a little persuasion and perseverance, remote work could be yours. Your position may be flexible enough it, provided you can reassure you boss or company that you can handle it. If that’s not a problem for you, then go for it!

5 to 6 points
Lucky you! By cosmic coincidence (or grueling dedication), you’re in a position that allows you lots of freedom in the way you work. Our recommendation? Take advantage of it. Then you’ll know for sure whether the grass is actually greener out in the world of workshifting.
