Maximize Security with Multi-Factor Authentication – Now Included in GoToMyPC!

In these unprecedented times, it seems like every week there is a story about a security breach. This is why security is at the forefront of everything we do at LogMeIn. Today, we’ve taken another step to ensure the peace of mind and protection of GoToMyPC customers by adding a new multi-factor authentication feature!

Many of you are probably already familiar with multifactor authentication (MFA), but for those that are not, MFA (or two-factor authentication) goes beyond the basic password to add another layer of security to your accounts. MFA refers to something you know — which in this case will be your username and password — and something you have, which will be a generated code. The extra level of security comes in because users will need both of these factors to access the account. So even if a password was compromised, for example, the lack of additional login data would prevent any unauthorized access.

To execute on this new enhancement, we’re leveraging our own in-house, best-of-breed solution – the LastPass Authenticator. The LastPass Authenticator is a multi-factor app that lives on your smartphone and offers both fast push notifications with one-tap approval or time-based 6-digit generated passcodes for loginAdditionally, our MFA approach also offers the option for SMS codes for manual entry. The free app – which doesn’t require a LastPass account – is available for iOS and Android.

This new feature – which was a direct result of industry trends and customer requests – is another step in an already broad range of security measures we’ve implemented in GoToMyPC, which include banking-grade AES-256-bit encryption as well as devicelevel access code verification for zero-knowledge securityIn addition to these features, GoToMyPC has a SOC certification which affirms the high quality of our controls and processes.

If you are already a GoToMyPC customer, we strongly encourage you to turn onmulti-factor authentication to add another layer of security to your implementation.
